Strategies Writing Workshops for Women, Based in Austin, Texas Phone: (512) 428-9933
In classes at once profound and playful, seasoned writer and teacher Sherry Sharp deconstructs the often unnamable obstacles to writing women face. Sherry says why writing matters, and shows you how you can open up your imagination so that its message makes a difference. This workshop, designed to dissolve writer's block, proves that anyone who has the desire to write can write. Writing is a craft, like carpentry. In this workshop you will be introduced to the tools of fiction in unprecedented ways that take them deeper than you might have thought they could go. As these tools take root in the very fibers of your being, you can begin to wield them with an authenticity that produces the kind of work you've never read, but always wanted to read. You've never read it because only you could write it. Developing this talent for representing the world differently—the hallmark of every memorable writer—begins with your unique perception of the visible world, with an image seen as only you would see it. In the first session Sherry shows you how to free your deepest images and make them live on the page. |
